First Things First
5 Day Devotional
Day 1: The Priority That Changes Everything
Devotional: Life is full of competing priorities. Your career demands attention, relationships need nurturing, bills require payment, and dreams call for pursuit. In this whirlwind of demands, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and wonder what truly matters most. The answer isn't found in better time management or increased productivity - it's found in understanding God's design for successful living. When we make seeking God our first priority, everything else falls into proper alignment. This isn't about neglecting responsibilities; it's about approaching them with divine wisdom and strength. Just as a compass points true north regardless of surrounding magnetic interference, seeking God first provides unwavering direction for every decision and challenge we face. The beautiful promise attached to this priority is that God will provide for our needs when we trust Him with our lives.
Bible Verse: 'But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.' - Matthew 6:33
Reflection Question: What area of your life are you trying to manage without first seeking God's guidance?
Quote: Success in life is often determined by priorities. And the difference between success and failure is. Is often not our ability. It is a priority.
Prayer: Lord, help me to make You my first priority in every decision and circumstance. Give me the wisdom to seek Your kingdom above all else, trusting that You will provide for my needs.

Day 2: When the World's Way Seems Right
Devotional: Every day, we're bombarded with messages about what leads to success and happiness. Society whispers that money brings security, popularity brings acceptance, and personal achievement brings fulfillment. These paths often seem logical and appealing, especially when we see others apparently thriving by following them. Yet God's Word warns us that there's a way that seems right but ultimately leads to destruction. The world's blueprint for success directly contradicts God's design. While culture says to build your own kingdom, Jesus calls us to build His. This isn't about rejecting ambition or success, but about understanding the proper foundation for both. When we follow our hearts without God's guidance, we risk investing our lives in pursuits that ultimately leave us empty. True wisdom recognizes that God's ways, though sometimes countercultural, lead to genuine fulfillment and lasting impact.
Bible Verse: 'All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.' - Romans 3:10
Reflection Question: In what ways has following the world's definition of success left you feeling empty or unfulfilled?
Quote: The world says, seek money first. Jesus said, seek God first. The world says, seek success first. But Jesus says, seek God first.
Prayer: Father, protect me from the deception of worldly wisdom. Help me to trust Your ways even when they seem different from what everyone else is doing.

Day 3: The Danger of Dusty Bibles
Devotional: There's a direct connection between our spiritual intake and our life's output. When we neglect God's Word, we gradually drift from His truth and begin making decisions based on our limited understanding rather than His infinite wisdom. A dusty Bible represents more than just an unused book - it symbolizes a disconnected relationship with our Creator. Without regular time in Scripture, we lose our spiritual compass and become vulnerable to compromise. We start rationalizing choices that we once knew were wrong, and our standards slowly erode. The solution isn't complicated, but it requires intentionality. Daily time with God through His Word keeps our hearts aligned with His will and our minds renewed by His truth. This isn't about legalistic Bible reading; it's about maintaining a vital relationship with the One who loves us most and knows what's best for our lives.
Bible Verse: 'Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.' - Romans 12:1
Reflection Question: How has neglecting God's Word affected your decision-making and spiritual sensitivity?
Quote: Dusty Bibles lead to dirty lives.
Prayer: Lord, create in me a hunger for Your Word. Help me to prioritize time with You so that my life reflects Your truth and righteousness.

Day 4: Sustained Through Opposition
Devotional: Joseph's life teaches us a powerful truth: seeking God first doesn't eliminate opposition, but it sustains us through it. From his brothers' hatred to Potiphar's false accusations, Joseph faced incredible challenges. Yet he never lost sight of God's presence and purpose. Opposition often signals that we're moving in the right direction. When we're making a difference for God's kingdom, resistance is inevitable. The enemy doesn't waste energy attacking those who pose no threat to his plans. Instead of being discouraged by difficulties, we can view them as confirmation that God is working through us. Joseph's story reminds us that God's presence doesn't prevent problems but provides the strength to overcome them. Every pit, prison, and palace in Joseph's journey was part of God's greater plan. When we trust God through opposition, we position ourselves to see His faithfulness in ways we never imagined possible.
Bible Verse: 'And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.' - Philippians 4:19
Reflection Question: How might the opposition you're currently facing be evidence that God is preparing you for something greater?
Quote: God's presence did not prevent opposition. God's presence Sustained him through the opposition.
Prayer: God, help me to see opposition as an opportunity to trust You more deeply. Sustain me through every challenge and use these difficulties to strengthen my faith.

Day 5: Trust the Planner, Not the Plan
Devotional: One of our greatest struggles is wanting to see the complete picture before we take the first step. We want detailed blueprints, guaranteed outcomes, and clear timelines. But God rarely works that way. Joseph didn't know that his brothers' betrayal would eventually position him to save nations from famine. He simply trusted God one day at a time, one decision at a time. Your responsibility isn't to figure out God's entire plan for your life - it's to seek the Planner daily. When you make seeking God your priority, He provides exactly what you need for each step of the journey. You don't need to have everything figured out; you simply need to trust Jesus. The same God who guided Joseph from the pit to the palace is actively working in your life today. Whatever assignment He gives you, He will provide everything necessary to accomplish it. Trust His timing, His methods, and His heart for you.
Bible Verse: 'And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.' - Philippians 4:19
Reflection Question: What step is God asking you to take today, even though you can't see the complete plan?
Quote: Your responsibility is not to figure out the whole plan. Your responsibility is seeking the planner.
Prayer: Father, help me to trust You completely, even when I can't see the full picture. Give me faith to take the next step You're showing me.
