Believing Is Seeing
5 Day Devotional
Day 1: When Faith Meets Circumstances
Devotional: Life has a way of shaking our faith right when we need it most. Grief, loss, unanswered prayers, and long seasons of waiting can quietly shift our trust from God to our circumstances. That is exactly where Martha found herself when Jesus arrived in Bethany. Lazarus was already gone. Four days had passed. And her first words to Jesus carried the weight of a faith that had been rattled. She believed in Jesus. She loved Him. But her belief had a condition attached to it. She said, "Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died." That little word "if" revealed something important. Her faith was real, but it was being filtered through what she could see and feel in that moment. Many of us know exactly how that feels. We believe God is good. We believe He is powerful. But when the hard thing happens and He does not show up the way we expected, doubt creeps in. We start measuring His faithfulness by our circumstances instead of by His character. Here is the encouragement for today. Jesus did not rebuke Martha for her grief. He met her right where she was. He is not intimidated by your honest struggle. He can handle your questions. What He wants is for you to keep coming to Him, even when your faith feels small and your circumstances feel overwhelming. Bring it all to Him. He is already there.
Bible Verse: "Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died." - John 11:21 (King James Version (KJV))
Reflection Question: In what area of your life are you allowing your circumstances to define the limits of what you believe God can do?
Quote: Circumstantial faith and if always gets in the way.
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for the times I have let my circumstances shrink my view of You. Help me to bring my honest doubts to You and trust that You are bigger than anything I am facing. Amen.

Day 2: The Faith You Need Right Now
Devotional: It is possible to have strong theology and still be missing the faith you need for today. Martha is a perfect example. She knew the Scriptures. She believed in the resurrection. She trusted that Jesus could have healed her brother. Her past faith and future faith were both solid. But in the moment she was standing in, she was struggling. Jesus gently pointed her to something deeper. He was not just a teacher or a healer. He was the resurrection and the life. Not a future event. Not a distant hope. Present, standing right in front of her, asking her to trust Him now. Present faith is the kind that gets you out of bed on a hard morning. It does not require you to have all the answers or understand how things will work out. It simply asks you to trust the One who already knows. It is the faith that says, "I do not know how You are going to do this, Lord, but I trust You anyway." Many believers are strong in what they know about God but find it hard to lean on Him in the middle of a real and painful moment. If that is you today, you are not alone. Jesus is not asking you to have it all figured out. He is asking you to trust Him right now, in this moment, with exactly what you are carrying.
Bible Verse: "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall He live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" - John 11:25-26 (King James Version (KJV))
Reflection Question: Are you trusting God with your past and your future but holding back from trusting Him with what you are facing right now?
Quote: Present faith is what gets you out of bed on a hard morning.
Prayer: Jesus, I confess that present faith is hard. Help me to trust You not just with what You have done or what You will do, but with what I am walking through today. Amen.

Day 3: No Room for If
Devotional: Faith and doubt can coexist in the same heart. But there comes a moment when Jesus asks us to make a choice. He asked Martha directly, "Believest thou this?" It was not a trick question. It was an invitation to move from a conditional faith to a confident one. Conditional faith says, "I believe, if things go the way I expect." Confident faith says, "I believe, no matter what." One keeps God at arm's length. The other draws Him close. Martha's response in John 11:27 is one of the most beautiful declarations of faith in all of Scripture. She did not have all the answers. She did not fully understand what Jesus was about to do. But she said yes. She declared who He was, and that declaration became the foundation she stood on. Faith is not the absence of questions. It is the decision to trust God even when the questions remain. There is no room for "if" in that kind of faith. Not because life is easy, but because God is faithful. He has proven Himself over and over again, and He will prove Himself again in your situation. Today, let Martha's declaration be yours. You may not have all the answers. You may not understand what God is doing. But you know who He is. Stand on that. Declare it out loud. Let your yes to Jesus be the anchor that holds you steady.
Bible Verse: "She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." - John 11:27 (King James Version (KJV))
Reflection Question: What would it look like for you to remove the "if" from your faith and declare your trust in God even in the middle of uncertainty?
Quote: There is no room for if in faith.
Prayer: Lord, I want a faith that does not depend on my circumstances. Help me to declare who You are even when I do not understand what You are doing. Amen.

Day 4: Stop Covering It Up
Devotional: When Jesus arrived at the tomb, He did not stand at a distance and speak Lazarus back to life. He walked straight to the place of pain and asked for the stone to be rolled away. He could have moved it Himself. He is God. But He invited the people around Him to participate. He asked them to do what they could, and then He did what only He could do. That is still how He works today. Many of us have things buried in our lives. Hurts, habits, failures, and fears that we have covered up because we do not want anyone to see them. We have gotten used to the weight of carrying them. We have learned to function around them. But Jesus is not asking you to manage what is buried. He is asking you to take Him to it. When you allow Jesus to come to where you are, He will ask to see it. Not to shame you, but to set you free. The stone that has been keeping you bound is not too heavy for Him. The thing that has been buried too long is not beyond His reach. He is not limited by how dark it is or how long it has been there. Stop covering up what stinks. Bring it to Jesus. Let Him roll back the stone. That is where the miracle begins.
Bible Verse: "Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for He hath been dead four days." - John 11:39 (King James Version (KJV))
Reflection Question: What have you been covering up or avoiding that you need to bring to Jesus and allow Him to address in your life?
Quote: When you allow Jesus to come to where you are, He'll say, where's it at? Take me to it.
Prayer: Father, give me the courage to stop hiding what I have buried and to bring it honestly before You. I trust that You are not there to shame me but to set me free. Amen

Day 5: It Is Never Too Late
Devotional: Four days in the tomb. By every human measure, it was over. There was no coming back from that. But Jesus looked at what everyone else had written off and called it a temporary situation. He told Martha in John 11:40 that if she would believe, she would see the glory of God. Not after everything was figured out. Not once the circumstances improved. Right there, in the middle of the grief and the doubt and the smell of death, she would see it. And she did. Whatever you are facing today, hear this clearly. It is never too late for Jesus. The thing that feels dead and buried in your life is not beyond His reach. He did not come and die and rise again for you to live defeated and weighed down. He came so that you could live a resurrected life, full of power and purpose and abundance. Do not give up on God. He has not given up on you. Not once. Not ever. He is the same God who called Lazarus out of the grave, and He is more than able to call you out of whatever has been holding you down. Your story is not over. The stone can be rolled back. The miracle is still possible. Believe it today, and watch what God will do.
Bible Verse: "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?" - John 11:40 (King James Version (KJV))
Reflection Question: Is there something in your life you have accepted as permanently lost or beyond repair that you need to surrender to God and trust Him with again?
Quote: Don't you dare give up on God. He's never given up on you.
Prayer: Lord, remind me today that nothing is too far gone for You. Renew my faith and help me to believe that I will see Your glory even in the places that feel most hopeless. Amen.
